Andrew Atwood's work combines disparate interests in the role of history and form as generative force in architectural production, the competing agendas of description, analysis and production, and the often misguided obsession with novelty, originality and creation.
Andrew Atwood teaches at the Southern California Institute of Architecture. In 2011 he founded First Office with Anna Neimark, a design studio based in downtown Los Angeles. The firm has many publications to its credit, and Atwood is a frequent lecturer. He has worked and consulted for Belzberg Architects, mos, and BIG.
He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Richmond and an M.Arch from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. His research can be found at atwood-a.com.
