Exhibition, Panel To Explore Photographers’ Indie Publishing Movement

The KU Department of Design, with support from the Hallmark Corporate Foundation, is exhibiting a curated selection of independently published photography books, journals, and magazines from across the globe. This exhibition, titled ‘A Fair’, provides an inside look at the impact of emerging methods of independent publishing and distribution on contemporary art photography.
Studio 804 Begins Construction on New EcoHawks Research and Teaching Facility

Early in January a group of architecture students embarked on a series of long, chilly days on a building site at KU’s West Campus. They’ve been staking up wooden forms, placing conduit and mats of reinforcing bars, and pouring concrete. They’re laying the foundations of a new research and teaching facility for EcoHawks, a KU School of Engineering student research program.
Studio 804’s Center for Design Research Building Earns LEED Platinum Rating

The Center for Design Research building on KU’s West Campus has earned a LEED Platinum Rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. The project was designed and built by School of Architecture, Design, and Planning’s Studio 804 and dedicated in the spring of 2011.
CDR looks to continue partnerships with Bayer HealthCare, Ford Motor Corporation, Voice Assist, Garmin in 2013

2012 was an outstanding year for the School of Architecture, Design and Planning’s Center for Design Research. Under the leadership of Gregory Thomas, professor of design, the Center established research partnerships with Bayer HealthCare, Ford Motor Company, Garmin International, and Voice Assist. The CDR is poised to build on those partnerships in 2013.
